For many years, Gwangjin-gu has maintained its geopolitical importance
as a trading center and the gateway of northeastern Seoul with
Gwangnaru being its center. Also, there is the Olympic-daegyo(bridge),
the symbol of the impressive economic progress of the nation that
connects Gangnam(South of the Han River) and Gangdong(East of
the Han River), as well as the Cheonho-daegyo and Jamsil-deagyo,
and Jamsil railroad bridges.
The establishment of the first 'exclusive central lane for the
bus system' in the nation has been effective in decreasing traffic
congestion significantly. The new subway stations of Gunja and
the Mt. Acha Gwangnaru on Line No. 2, 5 and 7, have divided Gwangjin-gu
into the shape of a sharp. Gwangjin has built a reputation as
becoming a new center for mass transportation that stretches in
all directions.
