Signal fire site refers to an important communication facility of a nation in the past, and it was installed and operated on small summits where monitoring and checking of all sides are easy in order to react promptly to emergencies by notifying the people in the applicable regions as well as notifying the center and the every part of border areas at the same time when it comes to emergencies of border areas.

Signal fire system is estimated to be in use, tracing back to the three kingdom era, but what is certain is that it was used starting from the Koryo era. Achasan is not subject to recovery since its trace is hard to find. At the Summit Yongmabong, which is the highest peak in Mt. Achasan , is installed the standard point that measures the above the sea level height of Korea . Thus, unlikely other signal fire sites, it plays a different, new role.
