After analyzing the most important potential projects to formulate an upgraded master plan, we selected 10 key projects to be implemented during the next 4 years.

1. Nurture an economy of sustainable growth with areas near subway stations being
the center.
In order to lay the foundation for sustainable growth, Gwangjin-Gu designated 5 areas near subway stations as commercial areas and semi-residential areas and started earnest development efforts in these areas. Development of these areas will transform Gwangjin into a self-contained economy, the finest town with comfort and refinement. |

Konkuk University Area : Gangbuk (Northern part of the Han River)'s Best Future Town
with Style and Refinement
- Build beneficial facilities to residents including a 58-story commercial/residential
building, the highest in Gangbuk, a department store and a large-scale discount
store at the Konkuk University playground site.
- Establish such cultural facilities as the Public Plaza for Gu residents, a comprehensive
art center and multiplex cinema, to make Gwangjin-Gu a town with style and
refinement much like Apgujeong in Gangnam (Southern part of the Han River) |

Hwayang/Neungdong Road Areas: University Culture Road with Youthful Spirit |

| |
|
|
The combined area of Hwayang and Neungdong Road will be designated and
developed as Area of Equal Development Facilitation of Gangbuk.
- Remove the so-called Dokkaebi (bugaboo) buildings in front of the Children's Grand Park and develop the surrounding areas of approximately 1,700 pyng in total. The area
will be transformed into the Gwangjang Park, which will be the future landmark of
Gwangjin-Gu, with a parking lot underneath.
- Children's Grand Park Station and Hwayang Market in order
to revitalize the commerce in the area and widen the road in front of Hwayang-
Dong Office ranging from Hwayang Overpass to Minjung Hospital from the current
6m to 15m.
- Improve the environment near the Hwayang-Dong and Konkuk University station,
where two universities are situated and two subway lines cross, to make it a Road
of University Culture, where youthful energy will pulsate as in Myong-Dong. |

Junggok Area : Clean and Comfortable Residential Area
- In line with Seoul's Balanced Regional Development Plan for Gangbuk, Gwangjin-Gu
will urge the relocation of the 12,000-pyng National Psychiatric Hospital and
promote moving the Hwayang Transformer Substation indoors to secure the site for
culture/welfare facilities and schools as well as high-end apartment complexes to
facilitate the development of the Junggok area.
- The vicinity of the Gunja Station will be developed as a business area linked to the
center of Seoul, making the most out of the transportation benefits of being the
cross-point of subway lines 5 and 7. |

Guui Area : Center of Administration, Business and the High-Tech Industry
- Build facilities for businesses including officetels (office/studios), as various and
administrative offices including Gu Office, eastern branch of Seoul District Court
Seoul District Prosecutor's Office and financial institutions are situated in this area.
- Develop as a centerpiece area where the high-tech industries such as IT and
information and communication industries are harmonized. |

Achasan(Mt.) Station Area : cultural and residential area
- Upgrade the Acha Mountain area from a general residential area to semi-residential
area in accordance with the Junggok Area Development Plan.
- foster the area as a cultural and residnetial area linked with nearby cultural facilities
including the Little Angels Performing Arts Center and Children's Grand Park. |

Gangbyeon Station Area : Refined Town of Transportation and High-Tech Industry
- Modernize the Dong Seoul Bus Terminal and place underground the Terminal itself
and two ends of the elevated bridge that links the Terminal and Gangbyeonbuk
Highway.
- Establish distribution facilities of IT and Electronics & Communication industries such
as Techno Mart to foster the area as a refined town of both convenient
transportation and high-tech industry. |

Gwangnaru (Gwang Ferry) Station Area : Environment-Friendly Green Town
- Develop the Gwangjang-Dong playground site as a comprehensive sports park that
includes a gymnasium, multi-purpose grass field and ecological pond.
- Connect the playground site with the Gwangjin Pedestrian Bridge and Hangang
Riverside Bicycle Road to link the southern and northern shores of the Han River. In
addition, the connection will make the area the center of bicycle riding by linking
Gyeonggi Province such as the Guri area to central Seoul and consequently as a
cycling attraction of Seoul. |

2. Develop the vicinity of Acha Mountain Fortress Wall Road and Gwangjang
Intersection as tourist attractions. |

|
Promote the comprehensive development of the area in the vicinity of the Acha
Mountain Fortress Wall Road, which boasts the excellent scenery of Acha Mountain
and Han River as a gateway to eastern Seoul. The development plan will include a
scenic route from the Han River to Acha Mountain and development of multiple hiking
routes.
Change the concrete walls into greenery walls. Introduce STREET FURNITURE concept
to create comfortable environment to pedestrians.
Set up special lighting at Acha Mountain and the lower part of Gangbyeonbuk Highway
to show off its beautiful night scenery to those entering Seoul from the East.
Build an overpass at Gwangjang Intersection, which will serve as a symbolic gateway
to Gwangjin-Gu, to provide wider access to the Sports Park at the playground site,
Gwangjin Bridge and Information Library. All in all, this construction plan will create
beautiful roads, centering around the Gwangjang Intersection. |

| 3. Create a venture complex to nurture high technology industry. |

| |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
Gwangjin-Gu has well-established human and physical resources to host a venture
complex, including Dong Seoul Bus Terminal, Techno Mart, Konkuk University and
Sejong University. The Gangbyeon Station and Konkuk University areas will be
nurtured to house a venture complex to foster high value-added technologies
including the IT industry and distribution.
A Gu center for enterprise start-up support will be built at 632-9 Guui-Dong with a
combined size of 540 pyng with 6 floors and 1 underground floor on a lot of 194 pyng.
Space at the center will be rented to young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to
assist venture start-ups, thereby stimulating the local economy. |
