Foster a human-centered, convenient transportation infrastructure.

Gwangjin-Gu, as the gateway to eastern Seoul, boasts a well-developed transportation system. Furthermore, when construction to extend the Gangbyeonbuk Highway to Guri, and construction to expand Gwangjin Bridge and Jamsil Bridge are completed in the near future, transportation conditions will be second to none. In addition, improved railroad branch lines and traffic system of side streets and expanded parking lots and parking facilities at residential zones will create a human-focused transportation environment of ultimate convenience.

Traffic Network Covering a Large Area

Expansion of the Gwangjin Bridge, the only pedestrian bridge over the Han River, and Jamsil Bridge will be finished some time in the latter half of 2003, along with the extension of Gangbyeonbuk Highway to Guri City, creating a more convenient transportation environment.

Reduction of Traffic Congestion at Jayang Road

In preparation of the expansion of Jamsil Bridge and resulting traffic congestion, Guui intersection and Cheonho Bridge Samil Gas Station Intersection will be expanded.

  Expansion Construction of Neungdong Road

Expansion of Neungdong Road and promenades for walking will be finished by 2004. Coupled with this, 54 large and small size roads will be built to ease traffic congestion.

    Improvement of Traffic System

Traffic system will be improved at 65 spots including placing equipments for traffic safety, so that people feel safe everywhere they go in Gwangjin-Gu.

  Encouragement to Ride Bicycles

Significantly extend bicycle roads from the existing roads near Hangang Park to reach Guri City and secure more bicycle parking areas.

  Solution of Parking Inconvenience

Expand parking lots and facilities by building public parking lots/facilities at residential zones and also by encouraging households to have their own parking space. Along with this effort, reestablish resident-priority parking lots in order to resolve parking frustration.
